This morning I was reading an article by Elisa Kosarin about the impact that volunteers have in a non-profit organization. Elisa works with Non-Profits and Associations on volunteer programs and understands the importance of volunteers for the mission and for requesting grant money. Check out the article here.

In our line of work at SSI Consulting we are working with Non-Profits and Associations to help them automate transactions and processes around their financial transactions. Many of our clients are tracking volunteer statistics and hours in their systems already and I am not sure how many of them are tracking the financial impact of those volunteers. This would be a great statistic to add to their financial outcome dashboard.

As you can see on this dashboard below, Sage Intacct allows an organization to track statistical accounts and import data from their other subsystems allowing for a full picture of the organization and the volunteer impact.

Bringing this data front and center to the staff of an organization means it is top of mind and like any goal, when it is written down and announced or monitored often, you have a much higher chance of reaching that goal.

You can see that in this example not only are they tracking the Volunteer hours but also have a graph tracking the Volunteer effort by area. This is powerful information in the hands of the Volunteer Coordinator, a Board member and the folks writing the grant proposals.

Does your organization have a “volunteer” dashboard? I would love to learn more about how you are tracking this information. To learn more about Sage Intacct visit our website here.
